Associate Professor Geraldine Kennett

Director, MBA Program, Management Sport & Tourism

As the Director MBA Program at La Trobe University Geraldine is responsible for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) strategy and operations, curriculum and learning quality and industry engagement initiatives.

Geraldine’s area of research interest is in the role of human and social capital in sustainable economic development. Currently she is exploring how learning practices in Business Incubators influences the success of incubatees in Chongqing, Chengdu and Melbourne. Previously Geraldine has explored the impact of training and development practices on labour turnover and dependence of student experience and engagement on employability outcomes.

Dr Alex Maritz

Professor of Entrepreneurship, Management Sport & Tourism

After more than a decade in Executive Directorships for multi-nationals as a corporate entrepreneur, Alex entered academia full-time. Roles included Chief Operating Officer of Sony Playstation and Managing Director of Blockbusters Entertainment National Sales Manager at Boots Pharmaceuticals and Glaxo SmithKline.

With an international reputation in entrepreneurship education, Alex is the recipient of Stanford Technology Ventures and Global Innovation Management Scholarships and internationally awarded finalist in the Entrepreneurship Education Award from the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE). Being a recipient of an Australian Learning and Teaching Citation for excellence in entrepreneurship education, Alex also received Faculty excellence awards in learning & teaching and research. He is the recipient of numerous best paper and esteemed paper awards from leading academic conferences and journals, and sits on the editorial board for leading journals in the discipline.

Dr. Ling Hu

Associate professor of University of Science and Technology

Ling obtained her Ph. D from Tsinghua University, and previously conducted visiting scholar program in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She has been in academia since 2010, and now is associate professor of University of Science and Technology Beijing in the field of business strategy, and entrepreneurship & innovation. Currently Ling is working as honorary visiting scholar in La Trobe Business School.
Ling is both doing research and teaching, and currently is exploring research projects related to business incubators and the entrepreneurship & innovation education in Chinese universities. Her prior researches mainly lied in knowledge transfer, international business strategies and new marketing strategies in Chinese market. Ling mainly teaches strategic management and marketing management courses both in Chinese and English.

He (Hector) Sun

Graduate Researcher

Prior to joining La Trobe University, Hector earned his Bachelor degree in Economics from Yunnan University (China) and Bachelor of Science in Economics from Salem State University (the United States). In 2016, he completed his Master degree in Applied Econometrics at Monash University. He was awarded the Magna Cum Laude from Salem State University (2013) and the Excellent Graduate of the Year 2014 from Sino-American CHEPD 1+2+1 Program.

Hector’s research interests are Applied Economics and Econometrics. His research project was focusing on the measurements of entrepreneurship sustainable growth. Linkedin:

Anne Jedzine

Graduate Researcher

Anne Nygaard Jedzini is writing her Master thesis on entrepreneurs and politicians role in the development of pathways to innovation in Australia, Scandinavia and United States with Geraldine Kennett as her supervisor. 

Her professional expertise is in stakeholder engagement, business development and strategic communication, experience that she has gained from working in the intersection of public and private policy making before commencing her Master of International Relations at La Trobe University in 2019. 

Anne has held various positions in the Danish startup ecosystem as board member, mentor and consultant. From 2014-2018, she occupied the position as elected Vice Mayor of Denmark’s second largest city, Aarhus, where her main focus was facilitating innovative policy outcomes through co-creation between entrepreneurs and politicians. 

She is currently representing the Master student body of the metropolitan area at La Trobe University’s Academic Board. LinkedIn:

Anjana (A-J) Ranasooriya

Graduate Researcher

Experienced HR Professional with a demonstrated history of working in both manufacturing and service sectors. Skilled in Performance Management, HR Management, Teaching, and Qualitative Research. Strong academic background with a Master of Management focused in Human Resource Management from La Trobe University and an MBA from Deakin University.

AJ’s research interest include Employee Performance Management and HR best practices in startups and SMEs.
